Success Story: Supporting our Clients and our Community

14 November 2018

Excellent accounting is of course, our focus at Scott Partners.

But that doesn’t mean its all we’re good for!

We are pleased to have been able to support some of our longstanding clients in their courageous charity endeavors. If you haven’t heard about The Male Bag Foundation or The Variety Bash, you’ll want to read on.

Let’s take a closer look at how our fantastic clients have been successful in supporting the cause closest to them.

John McLean

A successful business owner, John McLean looks to Scott Partners for business management support and advice, as well as personal SMSF management. He has been a client of ours since 2013 and we are proud and humbled to hear his opinion of us – “Scott Partners deliver great service, efficient accounting systems and good advice.”

At Scott Partners, we are also proud of John and his involvement with charity The Male Bag Foundation. A cause very close to his family, The Male Bag Foundation supports Men like John’s Father, who is fit and healthy at 92 years old. despite having had a prostate cancer scare when he was 64. John’s father survived because he found out about his cancer early enough and was able to combat it with treatment.

The Male Bag Foundation helps to raise funds for transperineal biopsy machines that are supplied to regional hospitals. This makes it easier for men that don’t live in big cities to get regular check-ups and ensure they have a chance at beating prostate cancer as John’s Father did.

So, how does The Male Bag Foundation raise money? Sponsored riders travel through rural Australia on postie bikes, generating funds and stopping along the way to build awareness across regional areas. This year, the ride was completed by 30 riders (John included), covering 2,000 kilometres over 9 days! The Male Bag Foundation is proud to claim that all money raised is spent on life changing machines for rural hospitals.

While the event itself is plenty of fun, it relies on the dedication of the riders and supporters to ensure funds are generated for the cause. We’d like to commend the effort that John put in to finding sponsorship and completing the ride. Scott Partners were happy to donate to such a good cause.

Nev & Lyn Colenso

We have had the pleasure of assisting long time clinets Nev and Lyn Colenso through years of business accounting and advisory and more recently, as self-funded retirees. Our team have a fantastic relationship with the Colenso family and we are pleased to hear they find comfort in having us on their side.

Nev and Lyn’s charity of choice is The Variety Bash. You have probably herd of the wonderful work Variety does in supporting Aussie kids to reach their full potential despite the challenges they face but, you may not have heard of The Variety Bash.

Bash Car Benzey wins best car for 2017!

With some similarities to The Male Bag Foundation ride, The Variety Bash helps to raise money by driving around remote areas of Australia in themed cars. The money raised goes toward paying for services such as education, medical and equipment. Dick Smith, the charities founder describes the events as ‘A drive in the outback with a few mates’. Nev’s car, ‘Benzey’ proudly donned the Scott Partners logo and won best car!

With Nev and Lyn inspiring our support, this is a charity that Scott Partners was more than happy to back.
